How apps use your data

See how apps gain table access and what happens to Data when you delete an app.

Tables belong to the workspace. An app can read and change only the tables it can access.

Grant access

  1. Open the app chat

Go to the app that should use an existing table.

  2. Type @ and choose the table

The mention identifies the table and grants the app read and write access.

  3. Confirm the assignment

Open Data, select the table, and check the Used by N apps list.

An app also receives access automatically when it creates a table.

Access is read and write. There is no read-only option, so an app with access can create, update, and delete records.

Seeing which apps have access

Open Data and select a table. Used by N apps lists the apps with access.

Other ways to use Data

  • A coworker can read and change workspace records when asked.
  • A workspace chat can read Data for questions and analysis.
  • The Data page is read-only.

Deleting an app

What happens depends on whether the app created the table.

  • A table the app created is deleted with the app, including its records.
  • A table the app was only granted remains, and the app is removed from Used by.
