Overview

Understand how Coworkers use instructions, Knowledge, Connectors, chats, and Pulses.

A Coworker is an AI teammate configured for a repeatable job. It follows saved instructions and can use assigned Knowledge, Connectors, and MCP servers.

Use a Coworker interactively in a chat or schedule recurring work with a Pulse. Knowledge, Connectors, MCP servers, and Pulses require a paid plan.

A Coworker is not a Connected agent. Coworkers run inside Appaca. Connected agents are external clients such as Cursor, Claude, or ChatGPT that connect to Appaca.

Coworker anatomy

  • Instructions define the Coworker’s role and working rules.
  • Chats provide task-specific requests and follow-up context.
  • Knowledge provides saved documents.
  • Connectors and MCP Servers provide access to external systems.
  • Pulses run recurring work on a schedule.

Build a reliable coworker

  1. Choose a focused job

Define the result the Coworker should produce.

  2. Write durable instructions

Set source priorities, boundaries, and the expected output.

  3. Assign minimal resources

Add only the Knowledge, Connectors, and MCP servers needed for the job.

  4. Test in chat

Try normal and incomplete requests, then refine the instructions.

  5. Add a Pulse if needed

Create a Pulse only after the Coworker works reliably in chat.
